The Coachella Valley

The main purpose of my trip to the Southwest was to help out with Habitat for Humanity in the Coachella Valley. I've never been involved with a missions trip or construction before so this was a really new experience.

Our contribution included sealing under the roof of the ease, installing doors and drywall, and organizing building materials.

One of our work days landed on Memorial Day, so we took a day off at the Habitat location and visited a homeless shelter in the Coachella Valley instead. After getting a tour of their facilities and hearing all about the impressive programming they have set up we helped repaint the wall of one of their thrift stores.

We spent a lot of time on the road during the trip. Our longest day of driving was the eight hour trek from California to the edge of the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
