Dwell On Pender

This month I had the honour of joining a group of super solid wedding photographers in a weekend R&R trip to Pender Island.

Nine of us girls spent four relaxing days in an beach-side cabin, spending the majority of our time drinking wine around the fireplace or hot tub while chatting about life and photography.

I'm always excited to take the ferries, but this time was extra special because a member of the crew offered to show us the ships bridge. We were introduced to the captain and shown how the navigational equipment works. Then, best of all, I was allowed to take over the ships wheel and steer the boat across the straight. The crew was so chill they seemed excited to show off their boat to a group of camera-wielding girls and let me spend a good 20 min at the helm.

Though we spent most of our time lazing around the cabin, we did venture out Oaks Bluff and Brooks Point. My favourite of all was the narrow, treelined roads that criss cross the island. We took our time on a small section (pictured above) taking turns photographing each other and drawing attention from passing cars.

Here is a list of the wonderful woman who were on the trip. Check out their work because they are pure talent:

Below are a few of the images I captured on my DSLR. I had a lot of fun experimenting with cabin light and sparklers and fairy lights at dusk.

Special thanks to Camp Brand Goods and Salt Spring Coffee for sponsoring us and Rachel for planning the weekend, which she named Dwell on Pender.
